It is true:
YOU ARE SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!
Thank God. It took you all of 6 months, and I was afriad to say anything the first few nights, but it has finally become a permanent thing, you sleep all night long, from about 7 or 8 pm through 6am.
This makes me so grateful and a much happier mom in general.
You just weathered your first earthquake, a pretty big one, as a matter of fact, and in the very same week, your first Hurricane. Hurricane Irene did a lot of damage in Virginia, and many are still without power. We lost power for 24 hours.
BUT.. I am learning what it means when people say "Boys are different". About a week ago, Daddy was watching a well deserved football game with Grandpa and all of a sudden, you sat straight up in your swing and flipped right on out of it, landing on your head. You were ok, just scared.
Then.. Sunday night, we had decided to get out of the house and into some air conditioning at a friends' pool party. I had gone to get a plate of food, and someone said "The baby just fell". I'm thinking to myself, they must mean Charlotte, since I knew you were *buckled in* to your carseat. I walk in and you had apparently tried to roll over in your carseat and flipped the whole thing over, resulting in a huge goose egg. We decided to leave, but since I was so worried about you, I forgot that Charlotte was still in a swim diaper and she peed all over the floor. Ruby was mad abot having to leave the pool, so she tripped over the threshold of the sliding door and fell on her face. It was not funny at the time, but the calamity of errors that occured seem like the perfect storm, in hindsight. Sometimes the stars align and you get good, and sometimes, It ends up like Sunday and you're just glad to be home, power or not. Luckily, the power came back on at about 8pm, and I had a huge smile on my face, eternally grateful to Virginia Dominion Power.
You never realize just how much you rely on something until it's gone.
You love your jumperoo. You love to eat food, but still won't eat anythign with texture. We have to take vegetables, boil them, put them through a food processor, and then strain them through a collander before we freeze them into cubes for your baby food. Picky baby. ;) You are so sweet and smiley though. You are just a joy to be around.
Love, Momma
