9 wks

Dear Henry,
You are starting to fill out beautifully.  Every week, it seems like your face changes and it is fascinating to watch you grow.  Last night (this was major!) you slept from 10pm to 3am.  5 HOURS!!!  It was glorious and I certainly appreciated the sleep.  Your little tummy must be able to hold more, because you are definitely drinking more, about 3-4 ounces at a time.
You are the apple of grandma Hatch’s eye, who hardly lets you out of her arms.  I take over night shift at 8:00 and on my days off, try to take time with you when I’m not saving your sisters from each other.  They are both in pushing/hitting/biting phases.  We also never ever let you stay in the swing when Charlotte is on the loose.  She loves you and wants to “take care of the baby” but swings you way too hard.  If we let her swimg you as hard as she likes to, you’d go flying out, which thankfully has not yet happened.  We keep you in your bouncy chair which is inside of the pack and play when she is on the loose, or in our arms, of course.
Your eyes are absolutely gorgeous.  They are the deepest sapphire blue.  My favorite part on you is your toes.  Your little feet are so cute.  I am sure when you are older, you’ll wonder why I have so many pictures of your feet.
Ruby is so dear with you.  She always asks to hold you and it is a reward for her if she behaves, we let her hold you until you cry or squirm.
You are the luckiest baby I know.  There are so many arms holding you, loving you.  So many lips kissing you, singing to you, talking to you.  Even if the littlest arms hug you a bit too tight or sing to you a bit too loud, it’s all love for you that they are sending, in their own little way.
You are an easy baby, and for that I am grateful.  You are a beautiful, perfect baby, and for that I am blessed.
Love, Momma

Baby Henry at 6 weeks

6 wk checkup

Dear baby boy,

Yesterday I took you and your sister Charlotte to your six week well baby checkup.  Here are your stats:

Your height was 22 1/2 inches (75%)
Your weight was 11 lbs, 3.5oz (50-75%)
and your Head circumference was 40cm (75%)

Perfecto.

Looks like the liquid gold (as the doctor calls breastmilk) that you're drinking is giving you just what you need.

You are knocking us all over with your gorgeous social smile.  Ruby loves to hold you and whisper in your ear "precious boy".  She heard me call you that when we first brought you home, and I could not agree more.

Precious Days

Happy April Fool's Day, little love!  I am surely a fool for you, my beautiful boy.  Today my last officisl day of maternity leave, I go back to work on Monday and I'm a little sad.  These 6 weeks have flown by.

I am still pumping milk for you for every bottle and your grandma helps me so much during the day when I'm catching up on sleep.
